For Duchess: July 7, 1999 to April 28, 2016

My beloved cat, Duchess, died on April 28th. She was almost 17 years old and had lived with us for most of that time. She was truly my cat. She was the first to greet me most mornings and was usually found a few feet away from me.

This wall hanging with  Large Feline Femme (Time to Stamp) from the fabulous Femmes Collection is a small tribute piece to her.

Large Feline Femme, available at I Brake for Stamps, was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink (Imagine Crafts) and colored with Copic markers and Prismacolor pencils. I tried to match Duchess' coloration, but still missed. I'll figure it out one day. I did much better with the woman's blonde and grey hair, which kind of matches mine. Tears were added to the woman's face with a Clear Gelly Glaze pen (Sakura). A golden aura around the cat was added with Gold Spica Glitter pen. The image was fussy-cut and edged with a black marker.

The poem was found online, computer generated, and printed onto cardstock with my laser printer. The colored image panel was added below the quote and the panel was matted with black shimmery cardstock.

Champagne Dazzle VersaMark ink (Imagine Crafts) was sponged over a heart stencil. While the ink was wet, the hearts were brushed with shimmery palette chalk in gold and white. The image panel was adhered to the chalked panel, then matted with black cardstock.

Here's a close-up of the image panel.

The Decorative Flower Clip Hanger (Melissa Frances) was painted with a combination of Dioxazine Purple, Translucent White, and Metallic Gold Media Fluid Acrylic paint (DecoArt). When the paint was dry, "Duchess" was added (poorly) with rub-ons. The nameplate portion was immediately coated with Media Matte Medium (DecoArt) to seal it. When that layer was dry, Crackle Glaze (DecoArt) was thickly painted over the name plate, parts of the hanger, the flowers, and the clips. When the Crackle Glaze was dry and the crackly magic had occurred, Black and White Media Antiquing Cream (DecoArt) was brushed on, allowed to dry, then wiped back.

Here's a close-up of the Decorative Flower Clip Hanger, hanging on a light post that has weathered the elements for quite some time.
